It is interesting for me to look back on almost 3 decades of landscape paintings. When I started I was a 17 year old sailor, bored during my off time at sea and missing the natural world I had bonded with as a child. Who was to know I would end up on Canada’s East coast a few years later and to continue to follow a passion for wild places and express this through art. It is poignant to actually view the work in a few minutes and to get a feel for my development both as a painter and a person. Through all this time I have somehow managed to continue to work, as a young father and husband with all those responsibilities and much of this time while working in healthcare. Where to next? Retirement looms, but not from creating, I hope to continue my work exploring the wild places and coastlines of Nova Scotia over the coming years, as long as I can.
